This is gonna be a thread where you introduce yourself, share some information, and maybe add what you think we could do to help the scene, or what you plan on doing.
Here goes:
I'm Chris Lucia. I moved here from Portland 4 years ago and joined a band called Steps to Lydia (shhhh...) We played around Eugene, Portland, and even toured the West Coast a few times.
I got to know the Eugene music scene pretty well. I can recal some sick shows at the Wow Hall, the Edge, and at the Irving Grange, all around 2005. We stopped playing by 2006, and I didn't rejoin a band until late 2007.
I started Of Mountains with Alex Acuna, Josh Jerin, and Bryce Hoeper almost a year ago. We've played in town a few times, and while we've had some promising shows (Petersen Barn, Taboo, Wow Hall) we've also attended some pretty weak ones.
This got me thinking; why did this music scene become so stagnant? It was less than 3 years ago that we were packing a huge indoor skatepark, and now we can't sell out a less than 200 capacity stripclub in the heart of Springfield. Something happened. The music scene here died.
After many, many talks with the likes of Danny Broderick (Aeolus) we came up with a few basic ideas for growth and progression within our scene.
First we decided we wanted to kickstart the underground scene here. As in, house parties and basement shows. Anything DIY. That'd be essential to starting a music community here where everyone is welcome, and everyone can enjoy the music.
Second, we came up with a plan (still in the very early stages) of owning and operating a venue soon.
And last, we realized it would be important to have a place where all of us local musicians and music lovers can get together and communicate, network, and in general discuss the music scene. That's what you're currently looking at.
Anyway, that's my short story on who I am, why I'm here, and what this is all about. I know everyone that's reading this has something equally as important to share, and I'm super stoked to start organically building a grassroots community here.

I'm Sam and I make records at Take 92. I've had over 20 different bands through my doors since late 2005.
I've played with a few bands over the years: This Day's End / EPD Dead ####ing Serious Outreach [To hear any of my projects, go to myspace.com/singularxxx]
Currently, I rap for The ILLusionists with members of Streetlight Cardiacs and Yob (for you oldschoolers). I mostly play solo acoustic these days, but even I don't know what the #### I'm going to write on a given day.
Oh yeah, I used to book shows in Eugene: Tsunami Bomb Countdown To Life (1st Eugene shows) 800 Octane Compact 56 Berzerk Capgun Suicide and too many more...
Props to anyone who wants to book now. I don't have the patience anymore. I make records because it's the creative process that I enjoy the most. Peace and love and all of the above.

Hey, I'm Milo Fultz and I've been playing bass for about 6 years now, never really in a functional band, but hopefully that'll change soon. Didn't get around to getting involved with the music scene until it was much too late (earlier this year) and regret every second of it. Honestly, I think that music helps people loosen up out of their standard 40-hour school/work lifestyle, and I totally dig that, because people get pretty uptight about stupid stuff sometimes. I am way more than supportive and ecstatic that some people who are actually part of the music being played here are trying to fix the scene and if anything, made me realize that (after school special moment) really can do a lot of stuff if I put my mind to it. Yeah, I know, that was cheesy. Anyway, I can lend a hand to be part of promotions, the music itself, performing, sound management (PA system, mixers, etc), and helping set up/tear down between bands or before and after shows. So if you ever need somebody to do this stuff, just find me on the myspace. Link: www.myspace.com/miloursosexy

I'm Crosby. I'm not sure what I bring to the scene. But, I've been around a while. I've Seen the music in this town go up and down. Musicians come and go or quit. If there are two things that I can contribute: Passion and expectation to make the best music possible, and (hopefully) to inspire others to do the same.

my introduction: Hi, I am Heidi, I have lived in Eugene for 25 years; (an eternity) which is also my age. I am not in a band but i enjoy listening to live music and watching people play their instruments. I am a senior in Humanities (history/philosophy/arts) at the U of O and i work on campus making microfilm in a basement. I like candy, ice cream, cake, and coffee (anything that digests in the mouth). I like to paint, I can speak italian, and i took piano lessons for 4 years as a child...but my real passion right now is to read; because after i finish school i will begin my career as a writer/illustrator and travel europe for the rest of my studies; my goal is to teach the masses (young and old) history in a easy to digest linear manner, in comic books and graphic novel... i like to share ideas; but i hate litagation, money, writing formal essays, and using capital letters when typing on computers. my heroes are albert einstein, karl marx, john lennon and harry nilsson. i would love to help in any way i can with organizing a community based on music and arts, so let me know if you need a volunteer, photographer, or something. good luck all.

Good to have you here! I remember the comment you gave us on our Myspace after our acoustic set at The Speakeasy, in Italian. Anyway, I'm an avid reader, writer, and history lover. If you have anything you've written that you'd want to share, please post a link in these forums so we can check it out! It's all about community.
