WE ARENT DBAGS WE JUST HAVE TO STICK UP FOR OUR SELFS SINCE NO ONE ELSE DOES.... I JUST BECAME EDGE AND ITS THE BEST THING IVE EVER DONE, I KNOW NOW THAT I HAVE BAD REP BUT IF YOU KNOW WHO I AM, YOU KNOW I WOULD NEVER HURT ANYONE....OR BE A DBAG why do people need people to "stick up for them"? Noone sticks up for a lot of people, why do edgers think they're excluded from this and need some special kind of crew? what's the point in claiming edge? Can't you just be clean and sober and live the same life/lifestyle? I don't mean that in a negative way either. Most of you kids aren't even 21 yet, so why would you want to claim and be apart of something that is supposed to be for the rest of your life...when you haven't even experienced a quarter of your life or even have graduated high school for that matter. Whatever happened to No rules. No regrets. Live for today. Positive. Care-free lives. what's with all the rules? Do you feel as though you would become some drunken meth junkie if you didn't claim edge? Do you not think you could just say "no, thanks" when someone tries to get you to drink. I don't understand the need to make it apparent to everyone that you choose to not partake in such activities and essentially label yourself. Do you want a pat on the back or a gold star? I just don't see the attraction. I do however understand and agree that you guys choosing to live a poison free adolescent youth, is not a bad thing at all. There is nothing wrong with choosing to not do drugs, or drink or whatever and I wish a lot more kids would choose to be sober until they reach the legal drinking age. However, I just feel adding the whole "TIL DEATH" or "FO LYFE!" aspect to the whole thing is just kind of ....unrealistic. BTW, has anyone else noticed how dead these forums have been for the past couple of months....?

I've kind of come to understand this whole issue recently. I mean, I myself really enjoy the company of fellow musicians, especially that play a similar style. I surround myself with deathmetal musicians and people who go to my shows because it's what I'm into, and people with like minds enjoy eachothers' company. A lot of kids might claim edge because it seems like the thing to do, because for one, they share the values of the lifestyle, and two, because there's a sense of fellowship. It's almost like they're a bunch of kids who use eachother as sort of a support group to steer clear of things that are bad for them, and to maintain a healthy lifestyle. My personal accomplishment is guitar. I feel good about the fact that I have a band that I worked hard for, and that I've spent so much time on music. Their accomplishment is their pure lifestyle so naturally they take pride in it. Some might come off as dbags, or are dbags to people they don't know, but with a few exceptions, I know and like just about every straight-edge hardcore kid in eugene. The ones from roseburg are also way nice people. Actually hang out with the kids before you judge them, I mean it's their life. I smoke my cigs and drink occasionally, and they've never gotten on my case for it.

It's because there aren't any fights anymore haha. Absolutely nothing t talk about. I still post shows and shit but I highly doubt that anyone reads about them til like a month or two after it happens.

I still post shows and shit but I highly doubt that anyone reads about them til like a month or two after it happens. Yes and no. I just think with all the venues getting shut down, and barely any shows going on, there isn't anything to talk about. If there are more shows going on (which I'm sure there are...), let's try and get the word out about them. If there is new local music out, let's spread the word about it. If there is a new band or new album out, right a review of them. Tell us why you like it. Tell us why you don't like it. Try and get more people involved in discussion. Personally, I haven't heard of any shows for awhile personally...but I also only check this website while I'm at work, so I can't see flyers posted and all that jazz, so that probabaly doesn't help. I also have been pretty broke with moving and bills and shit, so thats a deterrent also.

I still post shows and shit but I highly doubt that anyone reads about them til like a month or two after it happens. its probly because there arent any shows going on. what bands are even playing in town? brahmin? no, you guys play in roseburg now. arkhum? even they havent played in town for a while... its balls that there arent any venues in town... that said, the show on oct 1 at epic space looks like its gonna be rad. all core bands, save maybe brahmin, but even with them you can get your beef on... and epic space is probly the last care free venue we have... anyways, since wade has started hanging out with the "edge crew" i have gotten to know a lot of them, and i like most of them. theyre all nice kids. there are a couple of people who are two-faced and i cant trust them, but whatever, that has nothing to do with them being edge. at the risk of sounding like a broken record because this has been said a million times (in this very thread even)...... NO ONE HERE HATES PEOPLE BECAUSE THEYRE EDGE, PEOPLE HERE HATE PEOPLE THAT ACT LIKE DOUCHEBAGS! dont act like a douche, and people will like you, edge or not. matter of fact, almost everyone that has posted on here that isnt edge has said they respect edge people for living a drug free life, thats a really cool thing! great job! so yeah. thanks nick and wade for bringing back the worst thread on urf.

Brahmin isn't core? We do have some pretty deathy parts, but we have two steps and breakdowns galore. The new material is sick though. Pretty damn dance friendly. By the way, we've only been playing Roseburg because there aren't any shows. Give us some more shows and we'd be stoked. Plus the Roseburg kids are super chill. They're all coming out to this Epic Space show, so everyone expect a surplus of hardcore dancers.

the biggest thread on here and it keeps getting bigger and bigger..crazy how so much kids have so much to say just about a lifestyle.and no im not mad, pissed or anything bout what gets said in this thread i like seeing everybodys opinions on straight edge.even though some are lame there still just opinions and i still respect almost everyone on this forum.just hopefully people dont judge kids who are edge automatically as bad people.yeah i know edge has bit of a bad rep around here which really sucks but not all edge kids are the same.i've ben edge for 6 years and i feel i get along with everybody even with people who have talked down on the lifestyle i live.and no cody your an awesome kid thats not at all how it is even in SOD gabe in dustin arent edge.that sucks you feel you cant play in a band cause you smoke weed cause your good at what you do.and like you said it doesent matter about the lifestyle you live it matters about the music..

Don't get me wrong I'm good friends with all the edge kids, but the fact that even you Wade, after only 2 weeks of being straight edge you went and got some ink? That's pretty weak man. I think the fact that you're criticizing someone else's choices is pretty weak man. I wouldn't have done it either, but I'm obviously not Wade. I say this all out of love of course, I'm not trying to piss anyone off, just saying what I think needs to be said. It's hardly something that needed to be said.

Perry, I don't need your input on everything I write. I'm friends with them all, so are you. We both respect any decisions they make. I was saying my opinion, and it doesn't have to meet any of your expectations.
WILLEE - It was just an example, I didn't actually mean it about playing in bands. I love the music, that's all I can say.

Well nobody needs your input on EVERYTHING they write. I think this is the first time you've written anything I've commented on. All I'm saying is calling somebody's choice to get a tattoo weak isn't respecting their decisions. About the opinion thing, as was I.

I think the fact that you're criticizing someone else's choices is pretty weak man. I wouldn't have done it either, but I'm obviously not Wade. I was also shocked when Wade got the edge tattoos so "pre-maturely." Not that I care whether he is edge or not, or that he got an edge tattoo. I don't even know him that well, I guess it was more of a shock than a criticism of wether his decision was right or wrong. In the end, ultimately it's his body and his decision and I respect that. I respect what most people do to their bodies. I have gotten tons and tons of tattoos/modifications not everyone agrees with and tons of people criticize, and I could care less. Also, I think when you know, you know. And if Wade feels strongly enough about it, then so be it. I've gotten tattoos from ideas after thinking about them THAT day or within hours (for example: a rape victim on my upper thigh that is supppper fucked up and doesn't mean anything) and I don't regret them. Timing is everything, live for the moment and deal with it. yadda?

It really wasn't too huge of a shock for me, cuz Wade was always the straight edge kid in the band, even without being straight-edge. Never liked doing any of that stuff, so it just seemed the logical choice after he found out he enjoyed that group's company. He's still Wade, he's not being a douche or trying to impress anybody. I could see why you'd be shocked though. You knew the rest of the band partied so it's understandable. Kent was the real suprise. Went from chewing and partying literally every night, to straight edge. Like a day after Wade. That blew my mind. But he has a kid on the way so that's understandable too. It's still kinda weird thinking that half of Brahmin is now straight-edge.
