How did their court date go?
Wasn't it today or yesterday? I'd love to find out how everything went.

I won't say anything on their behalf, but I spoke with the brothers on Saturday and I got the impression that it's all over.

Let's work on improving the Duck, it's the only thing I can see working for us. See if we can get them to switch the stage to the back and the pool tables to the front.

Why do you think they changed their mind so quickly about banning the all ages shows??? They need it. We make em some bank. I think if they modified the place a little they'd actually be a not too shabby venue. We already got em to do all ages shows, which a lot of people were pretty sure would never happen, wy not try it.

I'm not sure how long it'll last if the fighting keeps happening though. Plus you're talking about a complete change of the layout of the duck. Moving the stage close to the windows? Moving the pool tables around? Moving the seating area? If they're as strapped for cash as we've all heard, how are they going to afford to mod the place up. Unless they had a bunch of volunteers...which I would be down to help fo sho. In reality, I doubt they've ever had a huge problem with fighting before the all ages shows started. That's why they have kept the stage where it is. I kind of like it where it is personally. It's a very personal venue, not really meant for hardcore dancing or even moshing for that matter, which people can't seem to grasp.

I'd contribute a shit ton of money. My parents are carpenters/handymen of all sorts, and they love helping with music related things. They could do it no problem, regardless of whether the Duck can help or not. Plus, if the stage was moved they could section the bar off so people could drink and still have an all ages going on at the same time.

I think it would be fantastic to get together and help fix that place up, if that's what they think will help, or if they're even willing to do it.
I am going to be setting up some shows at Epic Space here pretty soon. It's a small/intimate place, and I hope things go well there.
But that's a super bummer to hear about the potential death of Memento Mori.

We shouldn't give up on it. It still has a chance.

Wait, are we talking about switching it around to prevent fighting in some way? Cause, personally, I don't think we should do that just becuase people do not know how to respect a small venue. Those certain kids should know that a small venue isn't good for certain things.

switching the duck's stage to the other side would have several immediate advantages.
1. more space for a crowd to stand. yes, this would alleviate many of the fighting problems for hardcore shows, but it would also allow for moshers at metal shows to move around, and make it so that there is less of a chance of someone getting pushed into the bar or something like that and getting bones broken, you know, insurance purposes.
2. as previously stated, it would allow for a section to be blocked off in the back (where the stage is now and up halfway through the length of the bar) for 21+, so that they can rake in booze money all day long while also getting money from the under 21-ers, similar to taboo, only is will actually be a metal bar, rather than a club that hosts shows sometimes.
3. the sound guy would be able to actually see the bands and have an actual booth set up, instead of having to lean around the corner to see everything
4. i think it would just look better, more in tune with the feng shui.
