we should get a weekly 541ms sponsored jam session going so people can meet/connect.
it would be a great tool too for people looking to start bands too without having to "audition" people off of craigslist etc

I have been to a couple of metal jams before and its hard on the ears man. Its a good idea though, maybe people can bring some stuff recorded and pass it around as well. Networking is important. The more people you know the more options you have.

Bring a huge box of earplugs for everyone. They're cheap. Also, Hearo's work. Toilet paper does wonders on the high end, as well.

As a metal player I can safely say that Milo's right. I mean . . . most certainly I listen to metal quietly at night or when I'm feeling like some music before sleepy time . . . and I play guitar quietly at night as well as not to wake the other people in my house . . .
But a metal jam session? And quietly? One huge problem with that: drums are loud as fuck. Metal drummers especially. And we metal guitarists never ever think our guitar is quite loud enough. And then the bass player, following suit, never thinks he's loud enough . . . and since suddenly the drummer can't hear himself he starts playing harder. And then the cycle starts all over again.
So you see, it's quite impossible to have a quite metal jam. For we always take shit to 11.

i totally agree.
but i suggested a jam sesh. someone else brought up the metal.
i guess the jam session would only work for music where each instrument didnt have to be turned up to 11

All instruments should be at 11 at all times. It's the only way to roll.
. . .
But seriously, jam sessions are hella fun. And this is a very righteous and most excellent idea.

Bump
Me and my roomates might be willing to host the first 541ms jam sesh. Probably sometime after txgiving. We have drums, keys, and amps, just need to bring your guitars/basses. Please pm me if you're interested and say what instrument and style you play. I'll post again when I know for sure when we'll do this.

We should just play jazz. Jazz is much more difficult and if you can play jazz well you can play metal well.
This coming from a jazz musician too so please, add salt.
Jazz jam sessions are way fun too though
