I've been playing drums off and on for the past couple of years, nothing too major or serious. But I play at least once every other day.
I've tried to do the whole jamming thing before, and it usually ends up with everyone wanting to switch instruments (which is sweet if you have something solid to work with) and nothing really getting accomplished in the end.
For starters, I'd only want to start with either a bass or guitar player as I've never been in a band.
I don't really know how to classify the type of beats I lay down. Spaz-grindcore-crusty-sludgey-doom-death-metal type stuff. I don't really care for punk beats, but I'm really open minded.
I also make crunk beats, harsh noise using Fruity Loops if anyone wants to start a project or colab something in that sense.....
In the end, I want to find others who want to start a "genre-less" type project influenced by and not limited to: Daughters (new and old), Black Wall Sheep, Yob, Sigur Ros, *SHELS, Arab on Radar, TDS OGF, Meshhugah, blowupnihilist, Converge, HHLL, and Cattle Decapitation. So spazzy, ambient, sludgey, doom-like, noise-rock but with minimal fast grindcore parts.
I'm free all day on Saturdays, and I get off work at 2:30pm or 6:00pm depending on the day. oh yeah, and I live in Eugene.
ya digg?

Word, I'm not tryin' to bitch I just figured it was more "541musicscene" than the "talk about music" threads in the 541musicscene forum which have nothing to do with 541musicscene. but yeah. whateva. who wants to jam?!?!

it sucks you don't play guitar, you pretty much have it down to a T as far as what my band is going for, except with some more of say a fear before/poison the well sound incorporated.
really heavy chaotic, not to be heavy or brutal, but because it's the appropriate sound to what we're trying to say, which is something that came from struggle, not being a bunch of badasses, because we know all too well we aren't. we're needing another guitarist, or are at least considering it. i imagine i'll soon put up a post.

I really want to learn how to play gee-tar, but for now I'll just stick my fatass to shreddin' on guitar hero! and oh, I thought it was all about being br0000tal and hxc n' shit. w3rd.

I'm a big fan of Sigur Ros, Arab on Radar, and Converge. I play guitar; unfortunately my equpiment is pretty shitty at the moment (combo amp and cheap-ish telecaster; amp's loud enough to play over drums, at least). Are you into emoviolence (terrible name for a genre, i know) at all? Palatka, pg.99, orchid, in/humanity, mohinder, assfactor 4 etc. spastic 1 minute songs, the slightest hint of melody, and vocals a bit more palatable than grindcore (i do loves me some grind/sludge/crust though). oh, and early harvey milk is the shit if you like weird sludge. anyway, i do the guitar thing, and im definitely down for jamming.

I have shitty equipment too! I bought my drumset for $100 from a guy at Venture Data when I worked there years and years ago, and my friend bought me a cymbal pack for xmas back in the day. no worries. I'm not equipment obsessed at all, and to be honest I kind of like the crappy equipment sound. I love "emoviolence"! I usually just call it spaz-rock. I'm a big fan of pageninetynine, I have some orchid stuff but the others I'm not aware of so I'll definately check them out. So you must like combatwoundedveteren, anal cunt, agoraphobic nosebleed, *asterisk, and gadget? yeahh? I guess I mean't more "emoviolence" than grindcore. but yeah! Idk about 1 minute songs because I hate listening to those bands and all of their shit sounds exactly the same with minimal differences. I just want a genre-less thing going on. some electronics in there. some noise. some "emoviolence". some doom. some sludgey. even some jugga jugga waa waa minimally. pretty much ADHD music? idk. whatever happens, happens. but yeah! I'm down to jam fo sho! whats your schedule like?

definitely check out palatka: www.myspace.com/palatkatheband probably my favorite 90's thrashy screaming shit. they've conveniently got a complete discography out that chronicles their beginnings as a slightly more melodic band playing songs in the 2 minute range to their end as nearly grindcore 30 second shit. their lyrics are actually pretty palatable. i like combatwoundedveteran and anal cunt, not familiar with the others. ADD music is definitely my favorite to play; I have a hard time staying interested with a riff after a few minutes, and verse-chorus-verse structures are terribly boring. anyway my availability is pretty open; just moved here recently and am currently only working 10-20 hours a week, so whenever.

Blogspot me some haha. the crunk beats? or when we record some crunk shit? if you still need a guitarist, I've been playing seriously for about a year now, and I'm fuckin way down to make some crunk beats. most of my friends don't play instruments or only think they can freestyle. also, jam sessions are a great xcuse to get shitty and make some noise to thrash to
