can someone create a Looking for a Musician/Band Forum (where users can find fellow band members to jam together/start a band/get their groove on).
maybe a sticky in the 541musicscene or promotion forum?
I think this would directly help the "541musicscene" to get some new people playing together, and to help encourage people to meet up and start jamming.
WORD.
oh yeah, and since we live in a democracy, vote.

Why not a classifieds section with this section being a sub topic.

Why not a classifieds section with this section being a sub topic. This is a good idea. I was messing around with a test proboards account I made to see what all you can do, and ours should be a lot more organized with more sub-forums and crap. c'mon moderators!

I've got a suggestion:
The board right now is functional. If you have a super sweet Proboards test board you've setup that you'd like me and Danny to look at, send it to me! Every time I get a suggestion, it's like someone's just saying "make THIS better!" "make THAT better!"
ALSO:
We all know there are flaws in the board, but like I said, it IS functional. Any posts looking for band members in the "random" or "promotion" section have gotten plenty of views and replies. I don't see how adding an entirely new section and topic would fix anything other than requiring more clicks to see relevant information. The way I see it now, you can log on to the board, go right to the main page, and see any and all new posts within seconds! I don't think it gets more convenient than that, personally.
Let's try and enjoy what we have here and try not to get on me and Danny too much for not granting every single request immediately.
This messageboard is fun, but it's half the battle. We need people to come to the shows we throw. People to help promote (Myspace bulletins once a week are neat, but come on. Really?)
I work full-time. I am a full-time student. I have a full-time band. I have family in Portland that I occasionally try and see. I have been out on the streets 5 times in the past 2 weeks hanging up fliers. Me and Danny have put up over 1,200 fliers in the last few weeks. That is us ALONE.
Imagine if all the people here that enjoy the boards, or have ideas to throw out there even put in a fraction of the time we're spending on this. Just one night of helping out. ONE NIGHT.
We all claim to love this music scene, but aside from the limited interaction I'm seeing on these boards, I'm a little disappointed in everyone's way of expressing just how much and why they love their local music scene.

I understand and agree completely. and I apologize I came across as "nagging" you guys. I work two jobs. and I don't really have a bunch of free time. all of the time I spend on these forums is while I'm at work. so I'm killing two birds with one stone. I've been trying to do my part. I know flyering the town is a big part, and I'd like to help out the best I can but as my availability is lacking as of late I haven't been able to help as much as I'd like to. If you go to the top posters on these boards it's made up of a mere 5-10 people. We need to get people to get more active and more involved. I'm not entirely sure as to how to do this, I'm just throwing ideas out there that will help clean up these boards, make them more user friendly and hopefully will attract more people who will give their thoughts, want to help flyer the town, will come to and get people to come to shows, ect ect ect. I'm not claiming to be the oh holy one of the 541musicscene, or claiming that I put so much effort into this "scene", because I'm not. but I'm doing as much as I can in the little amount of time I have to contribute and trying to encourage as many people to do something in this scene. a little 541ms cheerleader. because the more people that get involved the more that will hopefully get done. that's all I have your honor.

i don't think his point was directed entirely on the fact that people have suggestions. if we didn't want them, we wouldn't have put up a "suggestions" thread. but there's been a lot of people making their suggestions, and telling us what we need to do, and how to do it, even concerning the physical part of promotion, and little to no follow through. it just sets a double standard. we've dropped quite a bit of money (maybe around the ballpark of $100 within the last week or two), gone out and manually hung up fliers, and passed them out as we saw people. we can't blame you for having your other priorities, but when you have a suggestion thread that's pretty close to full, and only 2 dudes doing everything, it seems a little weird that people have all the ideas, but none of the motivation to do what it takes. like i said, this is just as much as our scene as it is all of yours, and we all need it just the same.

I'm not gonna lie, I've had a pretty less than satisfactory day so far. That's not justification for going off on anyone, so I apologize for being so brash.
I think Danny summed up what we've been feeling.
I guess it's just an amalgamation things. People throwing out ideas, and not doing a whole lot to change anything really. I truly wanna see the test Proboards account you made, with the ideas you have in mind, so I can use it as a blueprint. There's obviously some work that can be done around here, but I'm no bulletin board expert and so far I've only messed with the things I feel comfortable changing. If I get something to go off of, I'll be able to adapt this board more to the demand of the community.
The point is, I feel that Danny and I are working really hard with our limited schedules to make sure everything involving this site, a potential venue, and the music scene in general are prosperous and enjoyable for everyone. Obviously we can't tweak every little thing to please every person. Things like color, logos, site layout, etc. are not ambiguous and therefore some will be pleased and some will be displeased.
The great thing about music and art in general is that it is all subjective. We get what we want out of it. Everything here is gonna be as enjoyable as we make it.
As far as the boards go, I'd be more excited to see some stimulating, productive conversation as opposed to only seeing people talk about how we can make things better here for them. (Clearly we're not opposed to people having that voice, as evidenced by the existence of the "suggestions" forum.)
Let's just try and be as productive as possible. I know there are flaws here, but I recall the last messageboard (the white one that was terribly disorganized) being much more stimulating and thought-provoking, even though its shortcomings far outnumbered this new board.

Another admin or mod might help. It seems like a lot of the ideas have to concern this site and it's apeal to people. You yourself said only 2 people can't get it all done at once.

aye Shayne, should there be a "suggestion completed" sub forum, or maybe the "mods added" forum where threads like this can be moved to help organize??
