Iunno if y'all have been current with the news, but in Florence there was a whale who beached itself recently and died and now the government is just planning on burying it. What a waste. Let's hack it up for food. I mean, these things aren't any more environmentally friendly than any person. They eat massive amounts of fish and other sea life a day, so let's return the favor to nature and eat it. After all, when a whale shows up on the beach, I see it as a gift; especially with the state of the economy. Give it to the unemployed and homeless at least. Why should people starve to death when such a mass of food shows up on America's shore? Here's the full article: http://www. msnbc. msn. com/id/29587206/Here's what PETA has to say: blog.peta.org/archives/2007/04/eat_the_whales_1.php

lol, everything washes up at heceta head.
"so let's return the favor to nature and eat it. After all, when a whale shows up on the beach, I see it as a gift;"
thank the gods! a feast has come forth from the sea and given unto us!
its like playing an RTS... you have to use your resources wisely to become the mightiest kingdom.
in all seriousness, its not all that realistic that were going to chop this thing up and eat it. besides, we still have our soylent.

Someone came and stole a really expensive part of the whale before they buried it. I forgot what it was called. But poor whale You have a good point, with the economy in this state, giving it to homeless people and stuff would have been a pretty good idea. There's probably some reason that they didn't.

It's sad that we don't think like that. People are dumb, it's kinda common sense.

I mean eating the whale. If it wasn't all fucked up and bleeding. If people are starving, there's a huge whale only second to length to the blue whale, that could feed a shit ton of people.

Yeah, you'd think it'd be common sense to just cut it up and distribute to homeless families/individuals. Instead they bury it under sand. Honestly, I don't think it would have been a big deal, unless it had some sort of disease. And they do think it was sick, and got disoriented, and that is why it was so close to shore. Indians used to hunt down whales here on the west coast. So, I think.. if a whale is so filling/maybe yummy?.. to go through all that trouble for them to kill(in a canoe even), it would have been worth it to investigate and see if it was eatable. It could have fed a ton of people.
