i concur compadre. go ahead, to all that disagree, and be mad at me...
but i think their older stuff is my favorite. artist in the ambulance is my wet dream.
or something...

i felt that way for a long time. AITA is such an emaculate album, and thrice definitely made a shift with vheissu, but every song they have come out with after AITA has been so epic it's hard to stay bitter about that change. thrice is another one of those bands that made a drastic change at one point (norma jean, underoath, etc) but i think they are making a lot more mature music.
but yeah, artist in the ambulance is friggin rad.

i'd probably say currently vhiessu is my favorite album of theirs. and i've been listening to them for like ages. i just like the direction they went!

with thrice i'd have a hard time comparing, but if i HAD to choose an album, i think it'd either be the alchemy index series, or vheissu. alchemy index is a really eclectic album, and frankly though it's not they're most impressive album (flying guitar lines), i'd say it's one of they're most ambitious albums. vheissu is the same, really. i love that album though and through.

im not disregarding theyre newer material by any means... i think vheissu was a great album, and alchemy index was one of those albums that i had to set aside enough time to actually listen to it, rather than just hearing the sounds.
and dustins solo stuff is great.
my favorite songs of theirs out of any album would be stare at the sun and artist in the ambulance.

its all about POP goes PUNK!
send me an angel. oh yeah.
and i think musically i do enjoy Artist more than their newer stuff.... however, as a spiritually aware individual, i just can't listen to vheissu without being drawn closer to something higher than myself.
i would venture to say that thrice has become a worship band.... or at least to me they are.
ALTHOUGH! i remember my first experience with philosophy was listening to artist with the lyric book in hand pondering things into the middle of the night and eventually studying Soren Kierkegaard due to some of the lyrics... so i suppose that artist in the ambulance could be equally construed as a philosophical album.
anyways, these are the things ive been thinking about....
heres something else.... broken lungs. beautiful song... it seems to be about a government coverup of the events on 9/11/01. i have been opposed to the idea of a government coverup of that magnitude... but i consider DK to be such a bright guy that i may look into it again. not saying it will change my mind... but if DK believes it, there must be something i missed.
but i digress.
