Acoustic Bass Amplifiers and Cabinets: www.guitarcenter.com/Acoustic1.gcThey also have a new 600 watt head and an 8x10 cabinet ($600!) at GC. Definitely worth a look.

Eh, they sound alright. They're about as good and the same price as the low-end GK stuff.

Nah dude I think they kill the low end GK stuff for sure.
Way more bottom end crush and clarity too. Plus you can crank that gain knob for some clipping and natural grit to the sound.
It's all about tone, really. And what kind you're after. The GK stuff is gonna give you a fuller sound simply due to the fact there are way more lower mids. The Acoustic amps have a shitload of insane lower frequency response, are loud as a muthafuck, and plus they've got a ton of top end on them. Lots of presence.
You'll get a very, very powerful sound with a ton of clarity and bite from the Acoustics. Which is kinda how I like my bass tone. I think they get a very sick metal bass tone going, so long as you've got a bass that's beefy enough for the task. The sound they produce is very much defined by what bass is going through them.

My bass player uses the Gk 4x10 gold series and they kick ass!! They are loud and punchy with a lot of response. He is looking for a 15 to stack his bass rig. 4 tens and a 15 will be massive and nothing else.

so fellas, my schecter diamond series bass and crappy amp just got jacked right out of my car yesterday... thats the bad news. the good news is, im in the market for some better gear... whats your guys' favorite brand of bass guitars with realistic prices? im talking like $500 max. i really liked the schecter, but im open to something else.
also, do you think i should go combo or just get a head and cab for the ampage?
i have many things i need to think about now....

Okay, a bunch of things to consider: Go to GC and try out Jazz Basses, P-Basses, Warwicks, all of them, find out which neck you like best. Try out basses with different body woods: Warwicks to Fenders, etc. Talk to the people who work there, they know best. Play on basses that have different pickups. Do you like soapbars? J-style? P-style? Humbuckers? Etc. Find out the specs of a bass you like. THEN LOOK HERE: www.rondomusic.comBest deals on a great bass you will love. Find one with the kind of wood and neck style you like. Replace the strings, the tuners, the bridge, and the pickup, you have a bass worth about double (maybe triple) the price. Like check this out: Bass=$160 Replace the tuners=+$40 The pickups=+$150 The wiring=+$25(tops) The bridge=+$40 A completely customized bass for about $400-500. For an amp, are you going to be playing LOUD? I assume so. So you should look at if you are looking at upgrading in the future. If so, head and cab. If not, just buy a really efficient combo, like this: bass-guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Acoustic-B200-200W-1x15-w-Tweeter-Bass-Combo?sku=482902Head and cab, go for the Avatar Cabs and an Acoustic head. Cheap. Cheap.

haha that acoustic 200w 15" from the link was the one i was looking at at GC... really really nice sound for a great price... i think its either that or head and cab of similar quality. The Acoustic heads and cabs are definitely the best cheap bass gear that GC has to offer. Waaaaay better than the GK BLX series, I think that they rate right up there with the GK Goldline Series. which is in a higher price point than the acoustic stuff. I also think That the B200H and B600H are actually better than the Goldline 500 GK head, which is like there $499 special. I think that amp is a waste of resources. Anyways, the point Im trying to make is that the Acoustic stuff is DEFINITELY worth the price!
