i think i dissagree with austin... death metal is all shread, no beef. i think metal needs some beef, which is done best with a breakdown, which (in its modern form) comes from hardcore. thus, shred + death + beef = deathcore.
that said, i dont really like genres. if your band fits in one genre, you need to do something different or i have no reason to listen to you.

There is a lot of techy deathcore happening these days though, i.e. Beneath the Massacre, Burning the Masses, Veil of Maya.

I actually remember something kinda funny. The last Agate hall show that was played, with DRAH and Bruce Tassel, I remember you dancing to the brief two step during BT. It didn't look like you were joking, and that wasn't like 2 years ago. What is 2steppin? CORE. pwned!

For one, theres been MAYBE POSSIBLY one 2step in btboy... So I know your lying... you point the finger of fiction
DRAH had breakdowns because we were CRAIGCORE BEER BUDS BITCHES AND BEATIN ASS Fuck yeah dude
Everybody loves the breakdowns Its not the only BEEF though....
oh, im gonna do it..... oh shit.....
CANNIBAL CORPSE
Damn, thats a name drop..... the name drop of all drops.... you better dupe that shit.
Oh so beefy, plenty of rhythms & shred, no core
core bands with good shred are few and far between

It was the only 2 step they had. But I can't blame you, about half the crowd did it as well. I think you're ashamed.
It isn't the only beef, you're right. Nile. Some of the most beef I've ever heard in my life. Heavy without breakdowns.
There's plenty of good examples of shred in core, such as After the Burial. Well not core as much as core tinged deathmetal. Beneath the Massacre, Born of Osiris, Veil of Maya, The Faceless, Winds of Plague etc.
I'm not a huge WOP fan, but they most definitely shred.

Wait, did someone say Terror was "deathcore?" lol at that.
And how has this thread gone without a single mention of Acacia Strain? They've been around for quite a bit longer than other "popular" groups in this "genre."
Hardcore has defined characteristics, metal has defined characteristics, but the majority of bands these days have crossed over at numerous points (breakdowns, double tempo, low tuned vs. high tuned, blasts, whatever).
