You know, as far as the smee tax goes, The Oregon Legislature also was trying to raise the smoking age, AND separately trying to make smees available by prescription only.
Generally, taxes are not needed. Congress can spend the same amount of money, which is too much as it is, without collecting a cent in taxes, just based on interest from inflation. Not only are taxes not necessary, they also aren't moral...I mean, its like taking you at gunpoint and saying I am going to mow your lawn, no matter what, so you have to cough up some money for me.
You can put in an honest 8 hour's hard work, and before your employer pays you, the government steps in and says "wait a minute, I think I earned some of that.." I mean really?
What a joke. I saw this on a t shirt the other day: Dont steal. The government hates competition.

I'm pretty sure SOME of the tax money taken from us hard working citizens does some good for the community.
How else would all these "homeless" teenagers be on foodstamps and still live with their parents?
