thats weak, cause yeah it was a terrific turnout, the touring bands should have gotten paid at least $100 each...... frickin taboo.

thats weak, cause yeah it was a terrific turnout, the touring bands should have gotten paid at least $100 each...... frickin taboo. I think the turnout was probably 200 kids.... So with the show $3-5, let's say an average of $4 per head. So we're looking at about $800 (give or take). So they gotta pay the sound crew, the stage manager, 2 security guards, the guy working the door, and the 2 guys working the bar. Not to mention the promoter. I'm guessing lights/sound took at least $100. The stage manager probably got about that. For security, let's say $50 each. $50 goes to the door man, and $50 each to the barstaff. That takes it to $450 just to pay for the staff. So the venue is left with about $350 to split between the 4 bands, a promoter, and the club itself. So yeah, I know that $80-100 doesn't sound like much for a touring band to get, especially considering how well they drew. But if you take into account the expenses of putting on a show like that, things start to make a little sense. I'd be surprised if Taboo walked away with more than $200 (before bar sales) in their pocket. And I'd call that generous considering how much more they could be making by opening the doors on Thursday nights to the regular dance (ugh) crowd and having 10 times the bar sales as a metal concert. I dunno, just some stuff to think about. I have no clue what any of the actual figures are, and in no way do I support anyone getting "ripped off," but personally, I don't think that's the case here......

Dude, I really do not ever want to play Taboo. Unless by some miracle American Me plays there again.

Nothing against them, I'm sure the manager is a nice dude. I just really don't like the place.

well heres the deal, its great that theyre letting us play there, but in all honesty, if there was a SINGLE decent local venue in town, taboo would be anathema. the place is so full of drama, the sound people are incompetent, they take $500 off the top to book shows there (more than the wow hall, btw) and they only book shows on thursdays. and their bartender is a tool.
other than that, i enjoy the place.
and seriously, i get what youre saying amber, but i am pretty tired of the place. i dont want to be rude, but there are several reasons why i dont enjoy it.

Hahaha...man...so much anger.
I agree with Amber. They're doing us a favor by letting us even play there. I really wanna play there again, I love that place. The reason the manager/bartender seems like a "tool", Brandon, is because he in fact doesn't like hearing metal at all.
So he just gets irritated. I think it's lame, 'cause he should be adorable when he serves me drinks.
But it's all good, in my mind. I love Taboo. Lame rules, but awesome place.
