dalin.... its time to grow up. you and me talked last night, i know you know better. youre a good hearted kid, i know you know what youre doing is wrong. man up and admit it. i like what milo said in the last thread on this subject: "Somebody says something you don't like, you don't punch them. YOU IGNORE IT. That's what normal people do. " again, we talked last night, you and me are cool. i just wish you would understand the damage that fighting is causing in this scene. how can we be cool if you just talked shit about me? i say that because im letting you know im not trying to hate on you, just telling you how i feel. i'm not "talking shit", all i said was that fighting is immature. if that offends you, maybe you acknowledge there is some truth to it...

Dalin, nobody in Facing Extinction was "talking shit." It was a joke. As I recall, people were yelling at them to, "Get off stage" before they ever made one joke about straight edge. You didn't see them try to fight the people who were heckling them during their set. Why couldn't you just laugh it off and have a good time?
I'm have been straight edge for 12+ years and personally found it to be hilarious. It's no different then when I tell my stoner friends they're all hippies for smoking weed. It's a harmless joke and there is absolutely no reason for it to be taken seriously. It's not like anyone was saying that you are a lesser person for choosing to be clean and sober. If it really does bother you that much, simply go outside for their set.
You acknowledge that fighting is what got Agate Hall shut down from shows. Why would you want to risk that happening again now that we have a new venue for all-ages shows?

Don't worry about justifying what you have said You haven't said or done anything wrong Dalin, you're going to far If you feel that way then stop going to shows You're level of immaturity is outrageous You say this shit woudln't fly in portland? Well guess what? All the kids that fight at shows in portland are band from almost every venue, if they show up, they get the police called on them. So it's already happened No one wants to be scared of getting beat up at a show People go to shows to have fun, listen to good music, and enjoy the company of there friends YOU are what is ruining the scene, not "these pussies that won't fight" You can stand your ground without fighting The violence exhibited by the people who I used to call my friends, just shows that you can't handle being wrong, and you can't stand it when someone makes more sense than you. SWALLOW YOUR FUCKING PRIDE AND GROW A PAIR

When I first read this thread, I was fucking pissed. I could not believe that someone would be so violent and encourage that kind of behavior.
Then my next reaction was sadness. This is a huge fucking bummer. I honestly don't even know how to address this without getting super pissed or super bummed.
Let me just get a few things off my mind, though.
First off, there is no excuse for a fight at a show. NONE. Unless you are LITERALLY defending your life, there is absolutely no excuse in my eyes. Let's get that immediately out of the way. Danny and I have been 100% clear on how we feel about fights that go on at our shows.
I am really upset that a girl got hit. I don't care if she taunted you. I don't care if she gave you a hard time. I don't care if she went in your face and screamed at you. Grow up, act like a mother fucking man, and don't hit females. PERIOD. END OF DISCUSSION. There is no justification for that whatsoever.
Second, the guy FUCKING APOLOGIZED TO YOU. He was trying to be goofy on stage, offended some people, and tried to clear up the situation afterwards so as to avoid any altercations. Once again, GROW THE FUCK UP. We're not cavemen here; we have the ability to use our brains. We have logic and reasoning. When someone apologizes, you understand they're sorry and you move on. It's a pretty fucking simple concept.
I think you need to realize what you're saying to Danny. Here you have a guy that absolutely BUSTS HIS ASS to make sure that we can have fun, safe all-ages in this town. Don't get fucking butt hurt when he tries to discourage you from fucking jocking out at a show that he is putting on. We have precious few all-ages venues in this town to perform at. We are absolutely not going to let some testosterone-enraged teenagers fuck up our chances at having safe all-ages shows.
Of course Phil is going to talk badly about fighting. It's bullshit, it ruins shows, it discourages kids from staying, and it forces the security to have to be in the middle of the crowd to prevent altercations. So yeah, Phil had every right to be upset about his show getting fucked up. I'm not sure if you noticed, but when my band was on stage I clearly addressed the fighting and called it "childish" and "bullshit." If Phil and Danny get a "fuck you," don't you think I deserve one, too?
This is an amazing music scene. There have been consistently 200 people or more at the shows Danny and I have been putting on. You have great bands, tight-knit fans, affordable ticket prices, and venues willing to take a chance on a scene that was cracked and broken and open up their doors to us. Please don't tell me this scene sucks; you are just as closed-minded as the people you ranted against if you pull that card.
Also, THIS IS NOTHING AGAINST EDGE KIDS. THIS IS NOTHING AGAINST HARDCORE KIDS. THIS IS NOTHING AGAINST ANY PARTICULAR GROUP OF PEOPLE.
Let me re-iterate:
THIS IS NOTHING AGAINST ANY PARTICULAR GROUP OF PEOPLE.
We are against FIGHTING AT SHOWS. It's the fighting that's bullshit. It's the fighting that is fucking up our chances of have all-ages shows. Fighting is why we can't book the Agate Hall anymore. Fighting is why there are certain people that used to LOVE going to shows, and now won't go for fear of getting hit or having to witness some bullshit go down. AND I CAN'T BLAME THEM ONE BIT.
No one group of people started this "scene." A music scene is not a tangible object for ANYONE to possess or own. There is no creator. There is no one person responsible for "ruining" a scene. And for the record, before guys like Danny and John from Nothing Sacred, what fucking all-ages shows were there? I understand there was a nice gentleman (whose name I will not mention for privacy) who threw shows, but he stopped over a year ago.
And for that matter, quit talking about "the good old days." You're SIXTEEN FUCKING YEARS OLD. You were in 3rd grade when the Edge started booking shows. Are you saying you've been going to shows since you were 9 years old? Cut that bullshit out. No one here is more important than anyone when it comes to shows. No one has any entitlement to the music scene. It's here for everyone to enjoy just as much as the next person.
Now let me tell you why I'm sad.
Dalin, you're my buddy. I like you. I've had so many talks with you and we've both enjoyed ourselves. I've seen you dance and have a good time at shows. Every time I see you I give you a hug and make sure you're doing okay. I care about you, and I know you are a lot better than what has happened at the last few shows.
I'm not sure what's gotten into you, but you need to look inside yourself and figure out why you're acting the way you are, and hopefully come to the realization that it's not fair for ANYONE to have to be involved in or see a fight at shows. Especially shows where mine, Danny's, and John's good names are on the line. We put A LOT of effort into making sure that these all-ages shows can happen and be safe and fun for everyone.
Please, out of respect for me, Danny, John, the venues, and anyone that is in any way, shape or form involved in this music scene, understand that fighting is not going to be okay. No matter what. I know you're a good kid and I know if you take the time to think about, you'll understand what I'm trying to say.
Until further notice, Dalin, you're not going to be allowed into any of our shows. There are also a handful of others that won't be allowed either. I hate to do this, especially to people that I genuinely like, but rules are rules and Danny and I have been more than crystal clear about fighting and how we're going to enforce the rules.
If anyone that was involved wants to sit down and talk face to face with me, Danny and John then I am totally willing and would consider shortening or even dropping the ban altogether, but I'd have to see some apologies and some remorse from a lot of people.
Sorry the post was so damn long, I just had a lot of stuff on my mind about this. I hope everything is clear, and if anyone wants to discuss this in more detail I'm always available.
Thanks guys,
Chris Lucia

Chris lucia i have to say one thing, i love you so much right now, i'd like to give you a lil kiss on the lips. the way you put it into terms, and your not blaming edge kids or "hardcore kids" is fucking amazing, because i feel its something this forum lacks. the fight was caused by stupid kids, being stupid kids. not edge kids being edge, or hardcore kids trying to be hardcore. and dalin, i'd like to add that, no one i know hates cory, your immature acts are the reason cool people like him don't show up to shows
i feel not letting people who cause fights come to shows is the only real way to stop it, danny and chris you have been great sports about fair warnings and such, its time to just put the final foot down.

HE WAS HITTING HER---- deal with the truth. also, chris, i think you summed up what i was trying to say... about the sadness and anger, and also feelings toward dalin as a person. thank you. dalin, remember when you used to dance to ASB? do you still have that shirt? we gave it to you for free i think... or at least cut you some sorta deal... those were the days.
