I just realized that I don't know MOST of the people on here. Or I know a lot of you but we've never met. I think this is the same for a lot of us.
I was thinking we could maybe have a monthly (or however often?) 541musicscene.com meeting somewhere, get to know everyone, discuss some ideas in person, discuss music and bands we want to see, sell some 541ms merch, bands can sell their cd's/merch there, get donations...and other things?
I feel this would be an easy and good way for new people to get introduced into the scene and for everyone already involved to feel more comfortable with one another...I know I have a hard time putting names to faces...
I don't know, it was just an idea. (mainly sparked by my monthly staff meetings at work, haha) Obviously we are going to see one another at shows and around town, but I feel with a more "meeting-like" feeling to it, it would be a lot more beneficial to everyone and the scene.
We could meet at a coffee shop (NOT CAFE ROMA!) or someone's house? Do some sort of activity, maybe give away a prize to ensure people would actually show up.
How do people feel about this? If there was something like this do you think it would be beneficial? Dumb? Cool?

Where the hell would we meet? I was just trying to think of a location, but it's harder than I thought.

I have no idea, thats why I just through the basic idea out there and maybe someone would come up with something...
We could meet at like Alton Baker Park or something like that depending on the weather, because there would be plenty of room outside...

I live right by Island Park, just a bike ride away from Alton Baker, so that would be ideal for me at least.

Socializing is for communists. Just kidding. Sounds fun. I'd be down.

Not for a little get together. At least I don't think so. If they have to do it for birthday parties, I would think you would have to do the same. Youre still using a space. If you were out in the field with chairs that you bring on your own, they dont care.

Voluntary member meetings are standard practice at 924 Gilman here in Berkeley.
